Anti-Oxidants:

Lutein - C40H552O2 acts as a nutrient with potent anti-oxidant properties, protecting cells against the damaging effects of free radicals. Research conducted at Harvard University indicates that FloraGLO® Lutein - a suspension of crystalline Lutein derived from marigolds - has the potential to act as a preventative agent against UVB induced photodamage of skin. Lutein is predominantly found in dark green, leafy vegetables such as spinach. In further studies at the Centre of Pharmacognosy, University of London, Taylor and Evans found that with the addition of Lutein to the skin, application of a chemical irritant inhibited 50% of erythema formation. Furthermore, a 52% reduction of epidermal cell layers was observed after applying Lutein to UV-B treated skin.

The benefits:
clinically demonstrated to protect skin against   UVB induced photodamage,
high consumer awareness (>50%) of its   anti- oxidative properties,
decreases UVB induced inflammation and   immuno-suppression,
has no irritation, sensitization, phototoxicity or   photoallergenic properties.
